We will cover the major systems (structural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC) and components of your home and teach you to properly care for and maintain them. Each student receives a comprehensive manual which includes “how to” tutorials, maintenance checklists and helpful hints. 2 ½ hour class
You’ve had that hole in your drywall for HOW long?
Maybe it’s time to just fix it yourself. You’ll learn that fixing holes is easy and that a little patience and a lot of sandpaper go a long way towards the perfect patch. In this class you will learn how to repair everything from a small crack to a large hole with hands on practice. Each student receives a comprehensive written manual to take home along with helpful information and tips. 2 hour class
You will be amazed at the many different ways you can attach things to your walls, ceilings and doors. If you’ve resorted to hanging your towels over the shower curtain rod, have a mirror just sitting on the floor or still don’t know how to attach that mailbox to your brick wall, this is the class for you. You will learn how to properly use the many different types of hanging hardware and each student receives a comprehensive written manual to take home along with helpful tips. 2 hour class
This is a fun, interactive class where you will learn to safely and efficiently operate two of the most common and versatile power tools - the cordless power drill and circular saw. During class you will learn: the safe and effective use of these power tools; how to identify the parts and functions of each tool; how to identify and select the proper drill and screwdriver bits; how to select and change the blade on a circular saw. All while drilling, cutting and driving screws to your hearts content. 3 hour class
Prerequisite: "What the Guys Never Tell Us" Part 1. For safety reasons and to ensure the best experience for all students you must complete "What the Guys Never Tell Us - Part 1" prior to taking this class.
Put those new power tool skills to use while making and assembling your very own toolbox. During class we will review how to safely operate your tools and you will learn all the basic carpentry skills you need to make a flower box, garden bench, your very own workbench and more. 3 hour class
This is a fun, informal class where you will learn basic skills you need to plan and install your interior trim project everything from chair rails, baseboards & crown molding to door and window casing. You will learn to safely and effectively use a compound miter saw and pneumatic (compressed air) nailer and how to identify and use basic trim tools and materials. 3 hour class
We'll cover basics of your home plumbing system focusing on toilets, faucets, tub, showers and drains. After the class you will be able to troubleshoot, repair or replace your toilet, faucets and drains and be able to troubleshoot problems with your tub and shower and water heater. You will also learn what maintenance tasks are required to keep your plumbing system working smoothly preventing water leaks from damaging your home. 3 hour class
Take care of that geyser in your backyard once and for all. In this class you will learn the basics of trouble shooting your sprinkler system and everything you need to know to safely and correctly repair or replace your sprinkler heads, risers, connectors and piping. You will also learn the proper way to shut down and start up your system each season to prevent freezing and breaking of your pipes and components. It's time to take care of this yourself. 3 hour class
Light up your life! In this class you will learn what you need to know to safely replace or install receptacles, switches and light fixtures and more. In session 1 we will cover safety and the basics of electrical circuitry including your service panel, circuit breakers and testing of your electrical devices. You will learn how to identify wiring and make proper connections to your devices. You will also learn how to ‘map’ the circuits in your home along with basic troubleshooting skills. In session 2 you will learn to replace receptacles, install a dimmer switch, replace light fixtures, how to wire a ceiling fan for installation and repair cords, plugs and lamps. 6 Hours (Two 3 hour sessions)
